Quartieri di Vita — cultural booklet
Layout and editorial structure for a booklet dedicated to a cultural and social project, with attention to readability and narrative content.
Themes, networks and years within one story
The Quartieri di Vita booklet brings together the story of a cultural and social theatre project. Its cover identifies the period 2016–2024; the pages connect the project introduction, the EUNIC network, the story of 2019 and an English-language timeline. The editorial structure alternates Italian and English text, black-and-white urban photography, and light and dark pages. Black and orange connect the volume and distinguish its different sections. The layout organises narrative and institutional material into a sequence that lets readers explore both the project’s themes and its development over time.
Design objective
The booklet gives an accessible form to a story spanning the project introduction, institutional relationships and development over time. The booklet addresses text in two languages and a variety of materials. Its structure distinguishes individual sections while keeping the connection between the project’s cultural and social dimensions visible throughout the publication.
The work
The layout organises bilingual introductions, pages devoted to the EUNIC network, content about individual years and a timeline. Black-and-white urban photography alternates with text-led pages. Orange headings, black backgrounds and light pages establish a recognisable rhythm across the booklet and within its spreads, connecting several different forms of narrative material.
Design rationale
Contrasts between black, white and orange articulate the reading journey within a focused palette. Placing the two languages alongside one another identifies corresponding content, while the timeline and year-based pages provide a temporal order. Photographs introduce concrete places and human presence within a publication containing a substantial amount of text.
