Food — AI imagery and settings
Food imagery created with AI and visual direction, from settings to plated compositions. The comparisons show source images alongside generated results.
From a reference dish to a complete scene
A collection of food images developed with AI from reference photographs and newly constructed settings. The compositions include pasta, fish, desserts and vegetables, with variations in light, surfaces and the arrangement of elements. Selected comparisons place the original photograph alongside the generated result, showing the move from a close view of a dish to a broader scene. Wood, moss, fabric and table objects define different contexts. The project applies visual direction to food imagery, exploring how a setting can shape the relationship between the dish and its surrounding objects.
Design objective
The study explores how food imagery can be developed through a different setting while keeping the dish as the subject of the composition. The collection examines the relationship between food detail and the surrounding scene: materials, light and nearby objects change how an image is read and the context in which the food appears.
The work
Generated images introduce wood and moss settings, a scene in which sauce is poured, a dessert on red fabric and table compositions with pasta and ingredients. Some are accompanied by the original photographs, placing the initial composition beside the new setting constructed around the dish within the collection.
Design rationale
Showing references alongside results makes the role of the setting visible. Surfaces and colours provide different frames for different dishes, while gestures such as pouring sauce introduce a moment of action. Comparing the starting image with the new composition highlights the role of light, background and objects in constructing each scene.
